Moose Hill Books is currently accepting quality manuscripts of any genre, however our preference is for fiction novels of at least 90,000 words from previously unpublished authors.

 

The full requirements for a submission are as follows:

1.   File and Media Format

Moose Hill Books will accept any manuscript document processed via Microsoft Word (Windows or Mac), Quark Express, Adobe PDF, or text (.txt or .rtf) file formats. 

We prefer you to send documents attached to an email, however if you're more comfortable sending us a tangible digital version of your work, that's okay too. A copy of your manuscript file should be saved onto a CD, diskette, or zip disk.  Do not send us your only manuscript file, because we will not be able to return your work.

2.   File Contents

Your manuscript document can either be saved on one electronic file, or contained in one file folder that includes separate chapter files.  Single spaced documents are preferred.

The footer of all document pages will include the word copyright or copyright symbol, your name, and the year of copyright (e.g. Copyright Joan Author, 2006 or ©Joan Author, 2006).

     4.  Response from Moose Hill Books

If your manuscript is of high enough quality, the staff at Moose Hill Books will read and study your manuscript over the next 1-3 months before responding with a "Feedback Critique."   The critique is a free analysis of your manuscript that provides feedback in three distinct areas: writing ability, story/plot development, and marketability.  If Moose Hill Books decides not to publish your work, we want you to know exactly why.

Moose Hill Books firmly believes in working with authors to ready their manuscripts for publishing, no matter how long it takes—months, years, or decades—it doesn’t matter.   You, the author, are our partner, and Moose Hill Books cannot exist without your help.
